Welcome to Dream, Draw Create!
This blog features art projects for children. These projects have been used in my classes. My lessons allow children to learn about all the elements and principles of art while striving to introduce them to many genres of art.

Sock Monsters

This project was one of my favorites years ago so I decided to unearth it. Students in Grades 4 through 6 traced old socks to create their fantasy like monsters. The flexibility of the socks allowed for many different positions for tracing. We discussed all types of animals, insects, fish, dinosaurs, etc. to stir our imaginations. Once they were pleased with their compositions details were added such as scales, horns, legs and claws. The monsters were then outlined with black and white pastels then colored in by blending the pastels.

  1. Those look awesome. I can't believe they are only in 4th grade.
