Welcome to Dream, Draw Create!
This blog features art projects for children. These projects have been used in my classes. My lessons allow children to learn about all the elements and principles of art while striving to introduce them to many genres of art.

The Great Kapok Tree drawings

This lesson was inspired by the story The Great Kapok Tree by Lynne Cherry. Grade 3 was inspired by the beautiful foliage and animals in the story. We began by drawing large plants on green construction paper. The goal was to fill the space and to demonstrate overlapping techniques as well as highlighting and shading. We used oil pastels to do this.
The following week the students were guided in a drawing lesson for the leopard, emphasizing shape and form.
Lastly the leopards were cut out and glued to the background of leaves and plants.
