Welcome to Dream, Draw Create!
This blog features art projects for children. These projects have been used in my classes. My lessons allow children to learn about all the elements and principles of art while striving to introduce them to many genres of art.

Clowning Around

This lesson was designed for my "little" ones as I so lovingly refer to them.  My Primary classes consist of a mixed group of 3, 4 and 5 year olds.  We meet each week for 40 minutes, wow, try and keep that age busy and engaged for that stretch of time.  It is challenging!
I had the honor of presenting at a Technology conference in NYC this past week. Sharing my thoughts and ideas on blogging, Twitter, Art Ed 2.0 and Artsonia were some of the topics I shared. Since I would be away for many of my classes with this group, I chose a lesson that is tried and true. The anticipation of being at the Circus is fun for children of all ages.  The concepts covered were many. Line verses shape. Circles large, medium and small were used and reinforced.  Texture and the fuzzy feeling of the clown's hair.  Utilizing fine motor skills to crumple up colorful tissue paper.  Portrait drawing, adding facial features and showing expression.  Lastly the use of pattern to add silly designs to the clowns costume.

Peanuts, Popcorn, Cracker Jacks anyone?

  1. These clowns are so cute.
I love the colors and textures.

  2. Thank you Marilena for the positive feedback!

  3. I love the rainbow hair on these little guys.

  4. The hair is amazing on these guys- clowns scare me in general but these guys are pretty cute- love the freakish teeth on the first two!

Please leave me a comment. I would love to hear from you.
