Third grade looked at the work of Paul Klee and studied his use of geometric shape for inspiration for these watercolor Castle's. We then discussed the era in which Castle's were built and their purpose. The students chose either a mountain top or a shore line to build their castle on. Some of the architectural details were observed and added to the drawings. Once the drawings were complete the students drew over their pencil lines with oil pastels. The final step was to paint with liquid watercolor paints. The very cool stone like frame was created using a cardboard rubbing technique.
These made me smile. Thanks!
